On these years of front beams- Volkswagen used two types of control arm bearings / bushings inside the axle beam tubes. Some beams came with inner & outer bushings made of a hard brown plastic material called Micarta. Others came with needle bearings pressed into place. To the best of our knowledge- there is no way to tell which you may have. Please make sure you check this out prior to ordering the urethane replacements. FYI- the urethane replacement bushings are constructed differently then the originals in that they are one complete sleeve which pushes into place after the originals have been removed. They are approximately 4 inches length and sold in a set of 4 pieces which will replace all control arm bushings or bearings and the outer torsion bar seals on one beam .
