Description
The thin CSP Products 1.5 liter auxiliary oil sumps for Type-1 engines from model year 70 onwards ensure optimum oil control thanks to their innovative design. The two-part design of the sump, which is milled from a billet of aluminum, makes it possible to fit a baffle plate for defoaming and circulation, thus ensuring the best possible oil quality at the pickup tube to the oil pump. The baffle plate not only defoams, but also holds the oil securely on the pickup tube thanks to its roof-shaped design, even under extreme cornering acceleration.
The extensive ribbing of the black anodized sump helps to lower the oil temperature and contributes to weight reduction. With this oil sump, which only reduces the ground clearance by 52 mm, the original oil strainer and seals can be used, and the oil strainer cover is beautifully recessed in the deeply ribbed lower part of the sump.
The upper part of the sump is optionally available with or without four M22x1.5 connections for the return flow from the breather box, turbo, cylinder head/valve cover, external oil pressure control, etc. Both versions have an M14x1.5 thread for an oil temperature sensor, which is naturally located in the area where the oil circulates.
Installation of the sump is very simple, as no stud bolts need to be removed from the engine case thanks to the special nuts supplied. Thanks to the two-part design, the oil sump is easy to clean and can therefore still be used after engine damage.
